Why would it be ok to allow self bidding?

I can understand why some artists would like the keep the self-bidding thing going for profit reasons. I'm curious why would bidders think it's ok to let artists bid on their own works during live auctions as well? Wouldn't it be inflating the price?

Please kindly explain your logic to me.
(To people don't like the self-bidding thing: Please don't flame people that supports it, I'd like to know their thoughts, thank you)
